INTRO to the GSC:
- The Garden Science Committee (GSC) is a STEAM-oriented group of parent volunteers.
- The committee objective is to provide hands-on experience for children to learn science, reading, math, art, technology, and engineering through the garden.
- We aim to inspire the next generation of healthy, environmentally-conscious gardeners.
- We also aim to collaborate with teachers and provide support for garden science lessons.

Garden Docent Chairs (TK-1st) Signed Up: 2 / 2REMOTE/ONSITE
The majority of garden chair roles are remote. All organizational meetings are remote. Some garden prep activities require onsite presence.
The role of Garden Docent Chairs: to coordinate and plan the garden docent lessons (6 x 30-40 min lessons per year) and be the contact person for garden docent support.
For 2024-25 there will be a garden docent chair supporting TK-1st grade and another for 2nd to 4th grade (currently none of the 5th grade teachers are signed up for this program but this may change).
The third garden docent chair will support in identifying lessons, communicating with all garden docents, and preparing/ordering supplies, as needed.
Garden Docent Chairs are not required to be garden docents in their student's classrooms.

Garden Maintenance Chairs Signed Up: 2 / 3ONSITE
There are 2 Garden Maintenance Chair Positions open.
Their role is to coordinate maintenance and care of teaching gardens.
We meet 1 Saturday a month from 9:30-11:00 AM, weather-permitting.
Typically we have a good turnout of Aviator families and volunteers from the community (middle schoolers needed volunteer hours).
No experience is required!
