A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered yesterday and to the mechanics from the Bay Area BikeMobile!
It was the first time we have brought in the BikeMobile on a weekday so I wasn't sure how it would go but participation was incredible. Mechanics Patrick and Jason stayed an hour past their scheduled time to make sure they got through the queue of 46 bikes that needed repairs and tune ups! (we're talking new tires, tube replacements, realigning bent derailleurs, brake pad replacement and more) They took the time to explain to the kids what was wrong with their bike, how it might have happened and how they were fixing it. Parent volunteers did an amazing job checking in bikes and managing the queue to keep the mechanics focused on the repairs. Thank you so much!
If you missed the BikeMobile, they will be at the Alameda Bike Festival on Saturday, May 2nd doing free repairs and tune-ups.
If your child needs/wants to get off of training wheels, there will be a free Learn to Ride class after the Festival. This class requires pre-registration.
If you would like to make sure you and your kids are learning to ride safely on the street, sign up for the free Family Cycling Workshop offered by Bike East Bay.
