Dear Edison Community,

Phew! Congratulations on making it through the first week! As President of the Edison PTA, I want to welcome you all to the new school year. I hope your kiddos are settling in well to their new classes and routines. 

As many of you know, the Edison PTA is your connection to parents and families at our school, working together to create a fun, welcoming, and academically enriching experience for our kids and the Edison community. 

Here are a couple quick updates before I get into how you can get involved this year:

Edison Back-to-School Picnic - TOMORROW! Saturday, August 15 | 5:00 – 7:00 PM | Edison Blacktop. Kick off another great year at Edison! Come reconnect with familiar faces, meet new families, and enjoy an evening of good food and good company. Hot dogs, hamburgers & veggie options provided. Feel like sharing a side or dessert? Bring it along! (Totally optional — we just want you there.)

Oakland Roots Tickets! Join or renew your PTA membership by Saturday, August 15, and you'll be entered into a drawing to win awesome field-seats for your family to the Oakland Roots game on Saturday, August 29, 5:00 pm against Orange County SC. 

Now here’s how you can get involved this year.

The Edison PTA has three main goals: supporting high-quality learning for every student; building a culture of family involvement, inclusion, and equity; and ensuring every child and family at Edison feels welcome, represented, and valued. And of course, having some fun along the way! 

Here are ways you can get involved:

• JOIN. Membership is $15. You can sign up or renew on our website at www.edisonpta.org or through the membership envelopes available in the office. Attend PTA meetings and make your voice heard on decisions for programs and funding that help our school. BONUS: Dinner and childcare are provided at PTA meetings!

• VOLUNTEER. Join a committee, help organize an event, chaperone a field trip, become a room parent, bring snacks to events, or run a fundraiser. We recognize your time is valuable - whatever you can offer will help. Check out the committees on Konstella and sign up!

• DONATE. PTA funds support important academic enrichment for our students: school supplies, support staff, field trips, STEAM activities, and more. We invite you to consider a financial contribution here and/or join our fundraising programs throughout the year, including our Fall Read-a-Thon and Spring Auction. Every gift, whatever the size, makes a difference. 

• TAKE OUR SURVEY. Let us know how we should direct our efforts and resources by completing our survey here. 

• CELEBRATE OUR COMMUNITY. This year brings back your favorite traditions plus some exciting new additions! Details on the Fall Festival, Family STEAM Nights, and more are coming soon. 

These early years are instrumental to our kids' growth and academic futures, and it takes many helping hands to deliver great experiences at Edison. Thank you in advance for whatever or however you’re able to contribute.
