Multicultural Night Event Volunteers 11/15 6-8pm
Thu, Nov 15 6:00pm-8:15pm
Edison Elementary

This promises to be a fun, fabulous, and delicious family night and we hope to see as many of you as possible, even if you can only stay for a bit (early bedtime) or if you come later (e.g. work, aftercare, sports, activities).

Besides showing up and bringing a yummy dish or drink to share if you are able, we need your assistance in the following ways:

1- Sort Properly. This is a Go Green event, which means we'll be using reusable plates, utensils and cups. We need you to sort these out properly at the stations so we can REUSE them for future Otter events.  Look for the bins to collect reusables. Do scrape food scraps and put paper napkins into the green (organics/compost) bin. If we run out of reusables, we'll bring out paper plates or cups - these will go in the green bin. If we bring out plastic utensils - put them in with the utensils bin and we will wash for reuse, or properly dispose of them.

2 - Tidy the Food Tables. Label your personal servers and platters, etc. with your kids name & their classroom number so we can return them to you. Properly sort the materials your dish comes with: Food-soiled paper and cardboard - Green Bin. Aluminum foil - clean - Recycling. dirty - trash.  Syran wrap/ cling film/ film plastic - trash. All of it.

When you are at the Food Tables, help out: clean a spill, properly dispose of empty dishes or trays, combine like with like. You get the idea - pretend you're hosting for a few minutes to make our friends and kids trips through the lines easier.

3. Bus your tables. Sort properly. Make space for the next family with younger siblings to sit.

4. Label your food dishes. The Edison Family has many otters with food allergies, sensitivities, and dietary requirements. Please label clearly for all nut types, shellfish, dairy, and gluten, in addition to labeling dishes with the type of meat, or vegan and vegetarian. Labeling is a simple way to respect our fellow community members.

We also need a few designated helpers at the beginning, during, & after the event.
