Edison Elementary

Dear Otters,

First, our next PTA meeting on December 13 will feature a presentation on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports - more affectionately known as PBIS.  PBIS is a systematic approach to teaching students about behavioral expectations, and focuses on rewarding good behavior rather than punishing misbehavior. This presentation will help us understand PBIS as a whole, with a focus on how it works at Edison and how parents can support good behavior at home.  While this presentation will be most useful for our newest Edison families, we think it will also be really rewarding for those of you more experienced Edison families - especially since PBIS is also used at AUSD middle schools. Please join us! As always, there will be babysitting and food.

Second, beginning next week, our Community Service Committee is leading a wonderful donation drive for victims of the Camp Fire. Edison Otters will be collecting cash and gift cards for Paradise Elementary, whose buildings were destroyed and whose families have been devastated by the Camp Fire in Butte County last week. This is a great opportunity for our kids to transform the smoky haze of last week into something positive.

Have a great week!
