Description: A group of volunteers who support Edison’s art program. Classroom Art Docents lead their classroom(s) in creating a collaborative art piece for Edison's annual Spring Auction & Gala, help display the Auction Art at Edison and at the Gala venue, and help with the annual Art Show at Open House in May.

General volunteer needs:

• Co-Chairs: Responsible for providing guidance to the art docents as needed, and coordinating key art events throughout the year including: Auction Art for the annual fundraising gala, the Art Show at Open House.

• Art Docents: Primary volunteer opportunities can be broken down into 3 parts:
  
  1. Auction Art Creation: Art Docents plan, coordinate and lead a collaborative art project with their classroom(s) to be auctioned off at the Edison PTA's annual fundraising gala in March. Typically this might take 1-2 visits in the classroom to complete each student’s contribution to the project, and assembly time by the Art Docents outside of class. Auction Art from past years is available on our PTA website here.
  2. Auction Art Display Support: Art Docents may help set up Auction Art for display at Edison the week leading up to the Spring Auction & Gala, and then at the Auction & Gala venue the night before the event. 
  3. Art Show Support: Art Docents may help the Art Instructor label, set up and take down classroom artwork for the Edison Art Show, held during Open House in May.

Requirements:

• Submit Level 2 classroom volunteer requirements including Live Scan through Arbiter.

Art Docent volunteers are needed at all levels of participation. Whether you are able to help with everything, or just drop in once in a while to lend a hand, your participation is welcome and vital to the success of the program! Thank you!!
