Description: Classroom Art Docents lead their classroom(s) in creating a collaborative art piece for Edison's annual Spring Auction & Gala and help with the annual Art Show at Open House in May.
GENERAL VOLUNTEER NEEDS
- Co-Chairs: Responsible for providing guidance to the art docents as needed, and coordinating key art events throughout the year including: Auction Art Preview, set up of auction art at Gala venue, coordinating delivery or pick up of sold pieces post-gala, recruiting volunteers to assist Art Instructor (Ms. Teare) with the Spring Art Show at Open House.

Primary volunteer opportunities can be broken down into 3 parts:
- Art Auction Docent (Lead): The Lead Docent develops or coordinates the project concept for Edison’s annual Spring Gala & Auction Fundraiser. Leads are welcome to partner with a co-lead to plan and manage the project. You'll organize materials (including framing), schedule class time with your teacher, and oversee the classroom art sessions. Typically this might take 1-2 visits in the classroom to complete each student’s contribution to the project. Auction Art from past years is available on our PTA website here.
- Art Auction (Classroom Helpers): Classroom Helpers assist the Lead Docent during classroom art sessions and may help with preparation, materials, framing, transportation, and other project needs. All skill levels and help are welcome - no experience needed.
- Art Show Support: These volunteers help the Art Instructor (Ms. Teare) label, set up and take down classroom artwork for the Edison Spring Art Show, held during Open House in May.
Requirements:
- Submit Level 2 classroom volunteer requirements including Live Scan through Arbiter.
Art Docent volunteers are needed at all levels of participation. Whether you are able to help with everything, or just drop in once in a while to lend a hand, your participation is welcome and vital to the success of the program! Thank you!!
