A Note from the PTG regarding Field Trips

Dear Eldredge Families,

We hope this message finds you well and that your school year is off to a great start.

We are writing to share an important update regarding student field trips for the current school year. As many of you may know, due to budget constraints, the East Greenwich School District has made the difficult decision not to fund any field trips this year. As a result, our school will not receive district support for transportation, entry fees, or other field trip-related expenses.

At Eldredge Elementary, we believe that field trips are more than just a break from the classroom — they are valuable learning experiences that help students connect with the curriculum in meaningful and memorable ways. Whether it's visiting a local museum, attending a live performance, or exploring nature, these experiences enhance education and create lasting memories.

That’s why the Eldredge PTG is committed to doing everything we can to fund these trips ourselves — but we need your help. Our upcoming Color Run fundraiser is essential in determining whether we can make these field trips happen for all grade levels.

Recently, our 5th graders went on a team-building field trip to Alton Jones that was connected to their SEL curriculum.  The school asked for parent donations to fund this trip and those donations ended up paying for half of the trip and the PTG covered the cost for the remaining half of the trip.  Going forward, if we raise enough money, our plan as a PTG is to fully cover the costs of field trips, so that no family must pay out of pocket.

We know that times are challenging for many, but any support — whether it’s a donation, or spreading the word about our Color Run — makes a big difference. Together, we can ensure that our children continue to benefit from enriching experiences beyond the classroom.

To sign up your student and make a donation for our color run, visit MyBooster.com.  You may also send a check into the front office made out to Eldredge PTG in an envelope with your student’s name and teacher’s name.  Please note, all donations made through the Booster website are subject to a small fee; however, 100% of donations made by check go to our PTG.    Thank you for being such a supportive and generous community.
