We are very excited to let you know about a special event we have organized to celebrate Black History Month and share an amazing cultural experience with our school!
On Feb 26 at 8:30 am, we will be hosting Dr Megha Makam founder & teaching artist of
Music & Movement Arts. Megha will introduce us to Capoeira: an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is much more than a traditional martial art. It playfully incorporates culture, music, dance and acrobatics. Today, Capoeira is a fun art form practiced around the world, but it’s history is rooted in the struggle of 16th century slaves who were taken from West Africa to Brazil by the Portuguese colonists. Join us to find out more!
Once again, the workshop will take place at 8:30 am on Friday, Feb 26. Parents are also welcome to join the fun with the children. The Zoom link will be distributed in Schoology through your kid's class.
This will be an experience you will not miss so we hope you can join us!
