Escondido PTA's follow-up to the District Announcement made on 3/9/2020

Dear Escondido Families:  


On behalf of the PTA, we want to confirm that you are up-to-date with recent District announcements and to communicate how we plan to support the students and teachers moving forward this school year.  


First, announcements from the District Office, Superintendent Don Austin, and Principal Dr. Marcela are sent out via Infinite Campus.  If you are not receiving their messages, please check your spam folder. Also, you may need to change your notification settings within your Infinite Campus account, for help with your Infinite Campus account, click here.  (Konstella is Escondido PTA’s communication platform.  Escondido’s eNews is also generated via Konstella by Escondido PTA volunteers, with the support and guidance of PTAC.)

Principal Dr. Marcela’s Escondido Update 3-10-2020 at 3:19 pm:


In response to the District’s March 9th announcement, we are required to cancel all field trips, assemblies, Science Fair, Ask-a-Scientist, Family Science Night, Movie Night, Track and Field, Last Day Fair, and during-the-school day volunteers on campus.  It goes without saying that we are just as disappointed, if not more than, the students and teachers, regarding these cancellations. We all look forward to these special events and programs and believe they are valuable to the students’ Escondido experience.  


The PTA still plans to have the following activities but will operate within the guidelines set by the District, (specific details to follow closer to the date of events) --Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week (May 4-8) and 5th Grade Promotion (June 2).


We are doing our best to stay updated with Dr. Marcela and District Office; should the situation change, we will let the community know.  


Escondido PTA is working behind the scenes to help safeguard our children and teachers.  The PTA purchased hand sanitizer for classrooms and additional cleaning products. We plan to reallocate funds to classrooms to assist teachers in purchasing additional supplies.  We all want the children to have a normal day at school with as little disruption to their normal programs as possible - which includes finding ways that you can continue to support the teachers and staff within the parameters outlined by the District.

On a personal note, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of our volunteers.  I continue to be amazed by the talent, energy, and dedication displayed daily.
