BLACK HISTORY MONTH
We are very excited to host a number of special events to celebrate Black History Month with the Escondido community!  All events will take place in the MP Room.  

 

  • February 27th, 1-3 pm. We would like to make the Escondido community aware of a late breaking addition to our Black History Month events.  We are pleased to have Nigerian born author Oladoyin Oladapo join us in the MP room on Feb. 27th, where she will read to our students from 1-3pm.  She is currently a MBA student at Stanford and a talented author who is inspiring girls to reach their highest calling through her book series “Girl to the World.” You can learn more about her here and hereIf you’re on campus please drop by and welcome her.

Nos complace que el autor nacido en Nigeria, Oladoyin Oladapo, se una a nosotros en la biblioteca el 27 de febrero, donde leerá a nuestros estudiantes de 1-3pm.   • On March 3rd from 8:30 - 9:50am, we will welcome a talented group of African American athletes from Stanford who will share what it's like being a student athlete and key points their journey.

Unfortunately, due to space limitations of the multi-purpose room we are unable to accommodate beyond current Escondido students and teachers. 

 

 

 

ESCONDIDO DAY at STANFORD MEN'S BASKETBALL GAME

Escondido Day at Maples Pavilion - Come join your friends & family (and teachers!) on Sunday, March 1st to see your Stanford Men’s Basketball team in their final home game this season!  

3:00 pm Tip-off STANFORD vs Colorado

Tickets are only $13 which includes tickets to the game, Stanford SWAG (poms, buttons, etc…) and lots of time on the Jumbotron ☺  **Drop off checks made out to Mindy Haase in the Office by Thurs, Feb 27th or Paypal mindyjhaase@gmail.com   Tickets will be distributed near Will Call on game day!  Special thanks to the Haase family for coordinating this special Community Building event on behalf of the PTA.

Bring the family to Family Reading Night, Wednesday, March 4 from 6-8 pm in the MP Room. Ms. Nina will share some of her favorite books and hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Kids are encouraged to wear PJs. Shop for your next great reads!

We are planning for next year, and we are looking for families willing to volunteer with the Escondido PTA!  We have many positions open for the 2020-2021 school year...from executive board member positions to event chairs. If you are interested or think you know someone who might be, please consider filling out this form and we will follow-up and discuss with you expectations and responsibilities.  By completing this form, you are not obligated to serve the position, we are merely surveying the school population to find out interest levels.  Officer elections will be held at the April 20th meeting, in the Library at 7 pm.

Tomorrow you will find the Escondido 2020 Science Fair flyer in your student's Friday Folder this weekend.  All students are invited to participate! The Science Fair will be held April 16 - 17, and all families can come celebrate our students work and curiosity by attending our Family Science Night scheduled for the night of April 16.

PTAC Invites Students to Apply for Grant Funding $$  - Now Available 

The City of Palo Alto’s ThinkFund grant program is a unique opportunity for high school students, either living in Palo Alto or attending school in Palo Alto, to receive a microgrant for their project or idea.  In addition to funding, students will also receive mentorship and support in order to turn their vison for a project into reality. PTAC Invites Parents of Teens to a Teen Vape Talk By Teens - Palo Alto Youth Council (PAYC)

Are you interested in being a part of the PTA council nomination committee?  The charge of the nominating committee is to recognize and recruit the most qualified people available for elected a member of the PTA Council Executive Board and Collaborative Committees for the 2020-21 school year.  As we are forming this nom-committee, we are looking for community members who have a passion for improving the educational experience of all students and preferably have experience on their school PTA or site council.  We are currently seeking both nominations and expressions of interest from individuals in the community who would like to learn more about becoming a member of the PTA Council. Reaching Out Saves Lives Walk 

Sat Feb 29, 9-11A at the Gunn High School Athletic Track

ROCK (Reach Out Care Know) will host Gunn’s Third Annual Mental Health Walk.  The walk, Reaching Out Saves Lives, is a community event to wrap up Gunn’s Mental Health Week.  The walk is a 5k from Gunn’s track to Bol Park and back again. Gunn Robotics Summer Camp 2020 

1st Session: Jun 8 - 12, 2nd Session: Jun 15 – 19,  9 AM - 3 PM  Gunn High School Robotics Lab L-5

2020 Palo Alto Speech and Debate Camp
