Bring the family to Family Reading Night, Wednesday, March 4 from 6-8 pm in the MP Room. Ms. Nina will share some of her favorite books and hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Kids are encouraged to wear PJs. Shop for your next great reads!

ESCONDIDO SCIENCE FAIR - Date extended to Monday, March 9th to Register.  (You don't need to know your project in order to register, please register now.  When you register you provide the volunteers information for the planning of the event and they can order the tri-fold presentation boards that projects are displayed upon.)


All students are invited to participate in The Science Fair it will be held April 16 - 17, and all families can come to celebrate our students' work and curiosity by attending our Family Science Night scheduled for the night of April 16.  This is a free event open to all grades.

Mañana encontrará el volante de la Feria de Ciencias Escondido 2020 en la carpeta de viernes de su estudiante este fin de semana. ¡Todos los estudiantes están invitados a participar! La Feria de Ciencias se llevará a cabo del 16 al 17 de abril, y todas las familias pueden venir a celebrar el trabajo y la curiosidad de nuestros estudiantes asistiendo a nuestra Noche de Ciencia Familiar programada para la noche del 16 de abril.

NOMINATIONS to Executive Board and Chairs for 2020-21 

We are planning for next year, and we are looking for families willing to volunteer with the Escondido PTA!  We have many positions open for the 2020-2021 school year...from executive board member positions to event chairs. If you are interested or think you know someone who might be, please consider filling out this form and we will follow-up and discuss with you expectations and responsibilities.  By completing this form, you are not obligated to serve the position, we are merely surveying the school population to find out interest levels.  Officer elections will be held at the April 20th meeting, in the Library at 7 pm.

Keeping Kids and Staff Healthy!

Measures Escondido school has in place to keep students healthy.

The school has provided:

  • Purell hand sanitizer dispensers for each classroom

  • Purell dispensers for the lunch carts

  • Teachers encourage students to wash their hands frequently (before/after each recess break, after using a tissue to wipe their nose or sneeze/cough)

  • Custodians are using a special cleaning solution on all "high touch" surfaces (door handles, desks, sink handles) twice a day.

As a reminderif your child is sick, please keep them home from school. To help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including the coronavirus and flu, follow these important tips:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

  • Individuals with chronic health issues and/or individuals experiencing severe symptoms should be evaluated by a medical professional.

**Updated**"Motherload" screening on family cargo biking 

Sun, Mar 22, 2–5p, Arrillaga Family Rec. Ctr., Sequoia Room, 700 Alma St., Menlo Park

“Motherload” is an award-winning, crowdsourced documentary about the increasing isolation and disconnection of the digital age, its planetary impact, and how cargo bikes could be an antidote.  The $5 ticket price will be donated to Silicon Valley Bike Exchange.  A small showcase of family cargo bikes will be onsite.  Registration required - limited seating available. Sponsored by Safe Routes to School, PTAC, and PAUSD.

PTAC Invites Students to Apply for Grant Funding $$  - Now Available 

The City of Palo Alto’s ThinkFund grant program is a unique opportunity for high school students, either living in Palo Alto or attending school in Palo Alto, to receive a microgrant for their project or idea.  In addition to funding, students will also receive mentorship and support in order to turn their vison for a project into reality. **NEW**PTAC Invites Parents to Escaping Vaping Talk by Palo Alto Youth Council (PAYC)  

Thu Apr 2, 7:30-9P Mitchell Park Community Center 

PTAC invites parents (and teachers) with students transitioning to middle or high school to attend this event.  This will be a student-led panel discussion featuring teenagers from our community, as well as experts from medicine, law enforcement, academia and government.  Come hear from the teens directly so you can better understand how to talk with your student(s).  Free admission and refreshments are provided. PTA Council seeks Officers and Committee Volunteers

Are you interested in being a part of the PTA council nomination committee?  The charge of the nominating committee is to recognize and recruit the most qualified people available for elected a member of the PTA Council Executive Board and Collaborative Committees for the 2020-21 school year.  As we are forming this nom-committee, we are looking for community members who have a passion for improving the educational experience of all students and preferably have experience on their school PTA or site council.  We are currently seeking both nominations and expressions of interest from individuals in the community who would like to learn more about becoming a member of the PTA Council. Reaching Out Saves Lives Walk 

Sat Feb 29, 9-11A at the Gunn High School Athletic Track

ROCK (Reach Out Care Know) will host Gunn’s Third Annual Mental Health Walk.  The walk, Reaching Out Saves Lives, is a community event to wrap up Gunn’s Mental Health Week.  The walk is a 5k from Gunn’s track to Bol Park and back again. Gunn Robotics Summer Camp 2020 

1st Session: Jun 8 - 12, 2nd Session: Jun 15 – 19,  9 AM - 3 PM  Gunn High School Robotics Lab L-5

2020 Palo Alto Speech and Debate Camp
