Dear Escondido Families,

 

The health and well-being of our families and the community is our first priority as we deal with COVID-19.  We trust that you are safe, healthy and that you are practice social-distancing.

 

The PTA General Meeting for Monday, March 16, has been CANCELED due to extenuating circumstances surrounding COVID-19.  (It will not be held on Zoom as announced earlier this week.)  We will reconvene via Zoom at a later date, it will be announced via Konstella.

 

Escondido eNews will not be suspended until further notice.

 

Escondido Yearbook encourages you to send a few of your very best photos from each grade and school event. CLICK HERE  to find the email addresses to send in your photos. You will receive a confirmation email from  box.com  if the photo was uploaded successfully.  Thank you!

Subject: COVID-19 School Closure Update

Good Afternoon Escondido Community:

I hope you are well.  I want you to know how very much we, the Escondido staff, care about your children.  While we have been doing everything that has been suggested to make our school a safe place for the students, it is now time to close our schools.  You have received a message from Superintendent Don Austin explaining the closure of our schools from Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3. This time period includes PAUSD spring break.  We continue to follow the guidance of the Santa Clara County Health Department in order to take the best possible care of our students and all in our community. 

We realize that closing our schools will be challenging for many families.  We have been thinking about how we can support your children while our schools are closed.  Education in our classrooms does not happen in the form of teacher lectures, and nearly every lesson is interactive.  It is not possible for us to replicate this in a distance format. We do want to support parents and caregivers who will now take over for the next few weeks.  Officially our school is closed, so there is no expectation that your child complete assignments, etc. We will be posting some resources on our district website next Monday, March 16 to help you.  Teachers are sending books home with students today that they can read in the coming weeks.

We would like to be sure that every child has access to internet-based resources through a device such as an iPad or Chromebook.  We are sending some of these home with children today who have indicated to us that they do not have such a device at home and who can safely get the device home.  If you need a device for your child and s/he is not at school today or does not bring one home, please contact your principal by email at msimoesdecarvalho@pausd.org by Monday, March 16 at noon and you will be able to pick one up from us. If you do not have internet access at home, please email me with that information.

We are all in this difficult situation together and trying to do our best.  Let us continue to care for each other.
