IMPORTANT : PAUSD School Re-Opening Plans
Mon, Sep 21 11:40am

Dear Parents and Guardians,

PAUSD is in the process of developing and approving a plan for reopening in person, now that Santa Clara county has moved from the purple into the red tier in California's four-tiered reopening system. PAUSD school administrators have outlined the following goals and approach, and they are assessing the possibility of an in-person phased return for Elementary schools beginning on October 12, with Secondary students returning on January 7, 2021.

Please join the upcoming Superintendent's Webinar TODAY Monday 9/21 @5:30PM, and the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday 9/22 @6:30PM, where reopening plans will be discussed:

Top priority goals in the reopening process are to:

  • Keep our students, staff, and community safe and healthy
  • Develop a clear roadmap to return to campus
  • Provide high-quality education throughout the year
  • Provide an environment for social-emotional connection for students and staff

The approach (found in the Board Reports for 9/22/20) will be:

  • a steady and slow approach toward our path to reopen school campuses
  • stay agile and adjust instruction to vastly improve the remote learning experience
  • gradually work toward increasing the number of students and staff returning to campus
  • Due to the breadth and multiple levels of courses offered at the secondary levels, transitioning mid-stream to a hybrid and distance learning model at the same time, is not feasible in a way that maintains the academic integrity of our program, without significantly limiting course options.
  • Authorize allowable student contact and on-site participation for activities consistent with Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCCPHD) guidelines, regardless of a full in-person return to instruction. There may be opportunities for some cohorts to meet in specific portions of the campus for pre-approved activities.

We would encourage you to check the Board reports, included in these reports is the proposed Health and Safety report specific for Fairmeadow here.

The proposed schedule for returning students to campus is as follows:

Please also note you can speak up at these meetings, during the allotted times, and have your voice heard with your own questions. The best way to do this is to have your question(s) prepared in advance, as they usually allot just a one minute time slot to speakers.

This is a very important time to make your voice heard. You do not have to be a member of the PTA or any organization to participate in these meetings, you can speak up  just as a concerned parent or community member.
