Hello Earth Friendly Firebirds!

🌎  Earth Day is almost here and as you may know Fairmeadow PTA has had a team working on a special program to create a week filled with Earth Day activities. We wanted to highlight just some of the resources and activities that are planned for our students and families below, starting on Monday next April 19th.

1.  🗣
On Monday, April 19th, PTA are hosting a talk by Tim Guinee, actor and climate activist. He’s a trained Climate Reality Leader who works closely with Al Gore. We are incredibly lucky to have this opportunity to hear him present! To participate in the free session, please sign up here and you will receive an email with information on how to join the webinar prior to the event.
  • Recommended for families and 3rd graders and above.
  • When : April 19th at 6pm PT (Talk 30 mins + Q&A 30 mins)
2.  📗
To celebrate Earth Day, we are using the Kat Kid Adventure Post: Earth Day Edition, a full color 8 page magazine for kids packed with Earth Day history, games and inspiring stories for kids to kick start their eco journeys. The printed magazine also comes with a handy educator resource for teachers to be fully prepared to facilitate an eco conversation - no prior climate knowledge needed! At Fairmeadow, every student is getting a copy of the magazine.

Kat Kid Adventure is an eco educational organization founded by one of our Fairmeadow parents, Anu Ramamurty.

3.🍦
Why not support a local business and treat yourself and the family to an ice cream at Rick’s Ice Cream store. Have your child color this poster and bring it along to Rick’s Ice Cream during the month of April, to learn about how one small simple change can help our environment.

4. 🌼
Be sure to check out our School Garden over the coming weeks which is visible from East Meadow behind Rooms 1 & 2. Have you noticed some changes recently? Our parent volunteer head gardener Beth Morris, has been very busy planning and making improvements to our garden with the help of some dedicated volunteers! Did you know that in one section Beth has been working on, with the help of Mrs.Easton, there will be a Butterfly Garden soon! Also for earth week expect to see some new friends joining our garden!

👍 Our thanks to Fairmeadow’s Eco Warrior team for working together over the past few months to build this fun and informative earth week program, that we hope will inspire more eco warriors in our community to become more eco aware and active both at home and at school : Team Leader Anu Ramamurty, Anjali Joshi, Beth Morris, Celia Rene-Corail, Collette O’Shea, Karen Easton, Roberta Von Pankow, Robin Kozina-Carlson.
