Farrand Robocall December 6, 2020

Good Evening Farrand Families,

Mrs. Washington here with your weekend updates. This has been a productive week for our students. I visited first and fourth grade virtual classrooms. Students are working and learning. I was impressed to watch first grade students stretching out words and writing sentences that describe the main idea of an informational text.

On December 5 (Saturday) the records of VA students going to SS vice versa will be transferred.

Welcome to Lindsay Richardson our new edition to the Farrand Community. Lindsay will be teaching 5th grade. We send well wishes to Ms. Thompson in her retirement. Mrs. Richardson will begin her career with P-CCS on January 4, 2021.

Parents will have access to report cards via MiStar on December 16, 2020.

Now for District News.

With school staff and family members in the higher-risk categories, district officials felt additional action was needed to protect their health and safety as the virus surge occurs. In deciding between remote or in-person learning, multiple factors, such as the positivity rate in the county and the number of cases within a school system, were considered.

In consultation with the Board of Education, it was decided that the district will follow the Health Department’s recommendation. It is in the community’s best interest to extend virtual learning for most P-CCS early childhood programs, and all elementary, special education, and post-secondary programs, through January 15, 2021.  Secondary students will remain remote through the end of first semester, January 22, 2021, as previously decided.

  • New information was recently posted on the P-CCS Talented and Gifted website about this year's screening and qualifying process. If your family is interested in learning more about the Talented and Gifted program please review this recent posting:  Talented and Gifted Screening Timeline and Information

Thank you for listening. Stay Safe and Stay Well.
