P-CCS Students, Families and Staff:

Next week, we will reach an important milestone in returning our Safe Start students to greater in-person learning. While building specifics are being communicated through your principal, the current Safe Start plan is available for your review on the district’s website and can be found here. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your building leader.

While the COVID-19 transmission rates continue to drop, we must remain diligent to prevent further spread. It is immensely helpful when families stress the importance of  wearing a face covering, washing hands frequently and keeping appropriate distances from others.  While students will get reminders in school, it helps when we work together and continue to highlight these important practices.

On Monday, our elementary, middle school and Starkweather Academy high school students will resume full day schedules. To reduce campus density, our students at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park will be returning with a hybrid model.  The Park is a great strength during non-COVID times with its academies and expanded class offerings.  In a pandemic, however, the Park’s density creates complex safety challenges.

We are committed to returning to in-person learning for all that desire this opportunity, and will expand options as soon as it is safely possible.  Thank you for your patience and support as we move this priority forward.

Next week’s transition is the positive beginning we need in our effort to return to a greater in-person learning model. The Board, administration, teachers and staff are completely committed to moving forward so that our students can continue to thrive in the months to come.

Yours in Learning,

Monica L. Merritt
