Hello Farrand Families!!
There was some confusion on the initial P-CCS email regarding the option for the "Virtual Academy" for the 2020-2021 school year. The "Virtual Academy" offers full online learning (Grades K-5 & 6-12) as an option for families that would feel safer having their students learn from home.
If the "Virtual Academy" would work best for your family for the 2020-2021 school year -- please fill out the survey below so that the district can plan accordingly.
Please keep in mind the Governor and the district have not made any final decisions as to what the 2020-2021 school year will look like for our students IN our schools. For more details on the plans the district has come up with - please check out the P-CCS website and read the "Re-Entry Taskforce" meeting notes.
P-CCS Families: P-CCS is working to finalize our reentry plans for the 2020-21 school year. Regardless of our reentry plan and the phase we are in as determined by the MI Safe Schools Roadmap, the district will be launching a Virtual Academy as an option for our families this fall.
We are working in partnership with Michigan Virtual (MV) to develop this initiative at the secondary (middle and high school) level, as MV has the expertise and a proven track record of success in online teaching and learning. They will be helping us launch our initial secondary program. The academy will be staffed by P-CCS teachers who will be implementing MV's curriculum and learning management system, with the ability to supplement the program for the unique needs of our diverse student population. The academy will provide a comprehensive secondary school experience for students in grades 6-12. All students will remain enrolled in their current middle or high school, however, they will take courses online through the P-CCS Virtual Academy. Enrollment in the P-CCS virtual academy would require a minimum of a one-year commitment to the program.
In addition to the secondary program, we are planning to launch an elementary (K-5) Virtual Academy. More details about the collaborative partnership we will be entering into to support this elementary academy will be shared as they are finalized. We need to determine the level of interest in participating in an elementary virtual academy in order to choose the model we will use that best supports the needs of our K-5 students.
To help us move forward with staffing and the implementation of the virtual academies, we need some information from you, and we ask that you take a few minutes to complete this Virtual Academy Interest Survey.
This survey will close on Sunday, July 19, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Thank you for your time and feedback as we continue to look for ways to meet the needs of each and every student we serve at P-CCS.
