Foothill Middle School PFA October Newsletter

 

Happy October! I hope all our FMS families have settled into the new school year and are feeling ready as we head into the holiday season.  Here are the upcoming PFA events for the month of October and a heads up on some November items, as well.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

 

 

TODAY!! *LAST DAY TO PICK UP ONLINE PURCHASES OF SPIRIT WEAR

 

If you purchased FMS spirit wear online, the orders are in and are waiting to be picked up!  Please come to the PFA table in front of the school by the marquee sign to collect your items.  The PFA has already distributed the majority of items yesterday and this morning, but we have one more pick up scheduled for today from 2:30 to 3pm.  If you or your child is unable to come by today, you will need to arrange for pick-up of the items by emailing the VP of Fundraising (vpfundraising.foothillpfa@gmail.com). 

 

Thank you to ALL the parents who contributed to the PFA’s fundraising efforts by purchasing these items.  Every single piece you purchased help raised money for the PFA Ed Fund and allows us to continue to do important work at our school. 

 

For those of you who missed the opportunity to get FMS gear, the PFA still has a few items leftover from onsite sales – gray and purple hoodies, a few pajama pants and gray t-shirts.  Please email me (president.foothillpfa@gmail.com) if you are interested!

 

Friday, 10/4: STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCH

 

We are still looking for donations of food items, drinks, or gift cards (to purchase items) so we can provide a lovely lunch for our FMS staff.  Please consider contributing to this cause!

Monday, 10/21: FMS PARENT SOCIAL AND “ED FUND”RAISER

 

The PFA Fall Parent Social is scheduled for Monday, October 21st at Mike Hess Brewery from 5 to 8pm.   Mike Hess is graciously donating 20% of all profits from the event to the PFA so this is the easiest way possible to donate to our organization.  In addition, we will be selling raffle tickets for several awesome gift baskets. Even if you can’t stay the entire time, stop by, grab a drink and say hi to some of your fellow Griffin parents!

 

Monday, 10/21: DINE & DONATE AT KEBAB SHOP

 

In conjunction with the Fall Parent Social, the PFA will be teaming up with the Kebab Shop on October 21st all day for the October Dine & Donate event.  The Kebab Shop is one of the most generous community partners, with them giving back 50% of all their profits for the entire day to the Foothill PFA.  So, if you feel like grabbing some food to go with your drinks at the Parent Social, please consider supporting this business.  Or if you can’t make it to the Social, but need to grab a quick lunch, please stop by.  Be sure to use the code “FUNDRAISER” if purchasing online or show them the  attached flyer when purchasing at the store!

 

Saturday, 10/26: COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY

 

Come together with other FMS parents and students to work on projects at our campus.  This half-day event is a great opportunity to beautify the school and give back to our community.  Sign up below:

Monday, 10/28: PFA MEETING

 

Come meet the PFA Board, Principal Stull and fellow parents at the PFA’s third membership meeting of the year.  This month’s meeting will be held via Zoom with the link being sent out the morning of the meeting.  Please log on, listen in, and learn about all the great stuff going on at our school!

 

ALL DAY, EVERY DAY:  EDUCATION FUND DONATION DRIVE

 

As mentioned before, the PFA needs to raise $150K this year to help bridge the gap between the funds given to the school by the State and the District and what we actually need to create an amazing learning environment for our kids.  We are falling very far behind on donations so far this school year and this shortfall will result in cuts to the services we are able to supplement for our students on campus.   We know there are a lot of causes pulling at everyone’s wallet, but please consider how important those are in comparison to your child’s education. 

 

Although we have a suggested $500/student donation amount, any amount helps. Feel more comfortable giving over time?  Not a problem – you can easily sign up for monthly installment payments of any amount.  And don't forget to utilize your company's corporate match! Please dig deep and help us achieve our goals for the school community. We are all in this together!
