Dear 5th Grade Families,

On Monday, June 3 from 9:00am to 3:00pm, 5th Graders will have their end of year grade level party at The Silliman Activity and Family Aquatic Center in Newark. This special off-site party is an Otis tradition that marks the end of fifth grade and celebrates all the kids have accomplished as elementary school students. A permission slip has gone home separately about this event - please be sure to complete it and send it in to your child’s teacher.

TRANSPORTATION: The kids will travel to Silliman and back via two rented coach buses, with some students accompanying chaperones in their cars. The buses will leave Otis at 9:00am, with plans to return to the school by 3:00pm (depending on traffic).

COST: There is no cost to families for this event. Funds raised throughout the year from 5th grade hosted movie nights and bake sales will pay for the bus, kids’ admission, pizza, cake, and a special gift (an Otis Owls beach towel) for each fifth-grader. If you would like to contribute a group snack, please use the signup sheet on Konstella (see Snack Sign-Up For Pool Party), or contact Beth Aney at beth.f.aney@gmail.com. .

WHAT TO BRING: Each student should bring a swimsuit and water bottle. Students will receive their Otis beach towel the morning of the event so no need for them to bring a towel from home unless they want to. It is recommended that student’ names be on their items and that valuables (phones, watches, money, etc.) be left at home or at school for safe keeping. We will not be the only party at the aquatic center, and there may not be secure storage for belongings.

CHAPERONES: We need a total of 10 chaperone for this trip, 5 of whom are also drivers and can transport students who do not want to ride on the bus. Please contact Beth Aney at beth.f.aney@gmail.com if you can drive and/or chaperone the event. The aquatic center has on-staff lifeguards who will watch the kids at all times while in the water.
