LAST PTA MEETING OF THE YEAR!! - May 23, 7pm
If you haven't been to a PTA meeting all year - or if you've been to them all! - you will not want to miss this one! We are voting to elect the Executive Board for the 2019-2020 school year and also voting to approve our preliminary PTA budget for the next school year. We will also have a special presentation by Connie Chapman, our Media Center teacher. Learn about the different online programs and technology our kids are working on in the Media Center and in the classrooms, and hear what they'll be learning in the coming year.
In order to elect our new board and approve the preliminary budget we need a quorum! Please come to the May meeting so we can close out this year and start the next year off on solid footing.
EARTH WEEK CLOSE OUT
During Earth Week, students collected hundreds of plastic bags for recycling, read about the importance of protecting our earth, and cleaned up the school and the neighborhood. Teachers and volunteers handed out over 300 Green Hoot Hoots to those students 'caught' picking up trash and putting them in the right bins. Volunteers handed out prizes to congratulate students on their hard work keeping their school clean. A HUGE thank you to all of those teachers and staff who supported Earth Week and work hard every day to keep our school clean and help us recycle, compost, and Terracycle. An ENORMOUS thank you to the Green Team volunteers: Alyx Karpowicz, Abigail Rauber, Anna Leah Ah, Liz Park, and Matt Wheeland. Remember Earth Week is EVERY week!
Thank you! See you at the May PTA meeting on the 23rd.
Otis PTA President
IMPORTANT SCHOOL NEWS
|RECYCLE YOUR PENS AND MARKERS!
Bring in used pens and markers (including sharpies, ball point pens, and dry erase markers) and put them in the box inside the office. You'll find the special box on top of the pencil dispenser across from LaShonda's desk. We go through lots of pens and markers - let's keep them out of the landfill!
|RECYCLE YOUR USED & BROKEN TOYS!
There is a bin for this in front of the main office. The toys DO NOT have to be strictly Hasbro brand, and can include stuffed animals (which we all know cannot be donated), board games, electronic toys & games, metal/plastic/wood toys & games, action figures, dolls, etc.
PLEASE REMEMBER!!! REMOVE ALL BATTERIESbefore recycling. Also NO car seats, skateboards, bikes, scooters, or things of that nature. This is a pilot program, so take advantage and clear out those broken and unwanted toys now! This program will continue until further notice.
