FROM THE PTA
Last PTA Meeting of the Year
Thursday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m.
Media Center

Please join us for the last PTA meeting of the school year. We will hear from Cindy Miner Kapelke, an Otis parent and member of AUSD's Homework Workgroup, about the draft Homework Policy currently out for comment. We will do a "year in review" with discussion around community and educational programs supported by PTA, volunteer opportunities/challenges, membership, and budget, and discuss what worked and what didn't. We will also vote on 2017-18 budget amendments, and discuss/vote on a preliminary budget for the 2018-19 school year.

Click HERE for the full agenda.  Free childcare in Room 102.

Thank You!
Beth Aney
Otis PTA President

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM LEADERSHIP NEEDED
Being an Otis Program Leader is a great way to take initiative and contribute to our wonderful school community. It's also a fantastic way to build stronger relationships among staff, teachers, students and fellow Otis parents. These programs and events can only run if there is volunteer leadership, so if you see something on the below list that is important to you...please step up!

Many of our Volunteer Program Leadership Roles for the 2018-19 School Year have already been filled! GO OWLS! This leaves us with only a handful of Volunteer Leadership Roles left to fill. To see what positions are still open, see the table below or click HERE. Duties for the various Lead Positions are also listed below. Many of these programs already have great teams in place, they just need YOU as their fearless leader.

Contact Otis PTA VP of Programs, Erica Kolodny, atEricaHartono@gmail.com to step up and learn more.

JOIN THE OTIS SAFETY PATROL
Recruiting has begun for our 2018-19 Safety Patrol Squads. All current 3rd and 4th Grade Otis students are eligible to apply for a Safety Patrol Squad.

HOW TO APPLY:
ABOUT THE OTIS SAFETY PATROL
Student volunteers commit to assist with the Safety Drop Off Zones at Otis once a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. Safety Patrollers are expected to arrive on time, be good role models, and report for duty rain or shine! The Safety Patrollers not only help to keep morning drop-off safe, they also promote a sense of community, leadership, altruism, confidence and teamwork at Otis. All current 3rd and 4th Grade Otis students are eligible to apply for a spot on a Safety Patrol Squad.

GET FINGERPRINTED THIS SUMMER!
Summer is a great time to get your Live Scan Fingerprint Clearance completed. You only have to be fingerprinted by the district once, and then you are cleared to be a field trip chaperone as long as your child is at an AUSD school. Live Scan fingerprinting may be completed for a fee* at any of several local Live Scan locations and involves a criminal background check through the FBI and Department of Justice. This level of clearance can take up to six weeks. (*Note: Please contact the PTA if the Live Scan fee is prohibitive for you.)

VOLUNTEER PAPERWORK REMINDER
In order to volunteer at Otis you must submit the following items to the front office annually:
