Community Service Committee

The Otis PTA is excited to announce the start of our new Community Service Committee! The committee will promote involvement in community service among Otis families and as a school community. Our committee's goals include:

  • Building Otis students’ sense of connection to community and to each other
  • Providing Otis students and families with opportunities to get involved in serving their community (school, local, national, global)
  • Building relationships between Otis students and community organizations for community service requirements in middle school
  • Helping Otis students get to know other youth in Alameda interested in community service
  • Providing a network of advocacy opportunities for Otis families

During the 2018-2019 school year our committee will aim to organize/ participate in a few projects including:

* An activity table at Carnival where kids and families can learn about community
service and write caring cards to Meals on Wheels recipients

*Engaging Otis families in a local community service project in the spring

*Sending out monthly lists of volunteer opportunities from the Doing Good Together website.
