Hello Franklin Families!

Our plastic film recycling drive is next week! We hope you've been busy collecting  plastic film at home (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to be recycled. Please talk to your kids about the importance of the 4R's (Reduce, Reuse,  Recycle, and Rot/Compost) and why our school is having a special recycling drive —this type of plastic isn't normally accepted by curbside recycling, less than 1% gets recycled in the U.S.!  If you missed our original announcement about our recycling drive, you can read it here

Next week, families can bring what they've collected to school. Here's a list of examples of plastic that we can take. Make sure it's clean and dry! Parents and students will be out front on San Antonio Ave. each morning during drop off to collect the plastic. There will be no receptacles on campus, so plastic can only be dropped off in the morning. Ridwell will be coming to pick up all of the plastic our school has collected that would normally end up in a landfill, and they will use it to create new decking materials.

We need volunteers to help collect the plastic. Please sign up below if you can help out in the morning next week. Kids can help too!

Thank you,

Your Franklin PTA
