Hello, Franklin families!

Calling all creative superstars— Teacher Appreciation Week is zooming in and we need your help to make our support staff feel SUPER appreciated! These amazing folks help make Franklin fantastic every single day. Let's shower them with door decorations and treats that are brighter and bolder than a superhero's cape.

The slots for our support staff are:

Tips & Tricks
  • Most doors are 79”L x 34”W.  The door handles are approximately 35” from the bottom. Most handles are on the right side of the door but please check your door because some are on the left.
  • There are large rolls of paper that can be used for the background of your door decor - they are slightly wider than most of the doors. It is best to use a piece longer than the door so that you can wrap the paper over the top of the door. The rolls of paper can be found in the basement hallway. Stairs to the basement are located near the front entrance to the school across from the multipurpose room.
  • The decorations don't have to be expensive or excessive, they can be as simple as markers and cut-out construction paper shapes! Please work on creating your door decorations at home, and have them (mostly) complete before installation day. Up to you if you want to involve students or not, but most kids love to decorate.
  • Clear packing tape, scissors, and a step stool are your decorating sidekicks. Ditch the duct tape. There will be a limited supply of tape available if you don’t have any. Please do not use duct tape.
  • Last year we found it worked best to wrap the paper over the top of the door and either tape it to the top edge, or the backside of the door - the tape sticks best to the metal frame running around the outside of the door, and only clear packing tape seemed to work. The material on the front of the door is resistant to any type of tape, so the paper needs to be long and wide enough to reach the edges of the door.
  • PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR DOOR SIZE TO MAKE SURE YOUR DECORATIONS WILL FIT
Hanging Your Decorations
 
There are two main opportunities to decorate doors. Read below:
  • Friday, May 2 (after school) — Door Decorating Opportunity #1. 

  • Saturday, May 3 — Door Decorating Opportunity #2—Science Fair—Doors will be available to decorate during the Science Fair from 1pm to 5pm. 

Teacher Treats and Beverages

Parents, we will be asking for desserts, snacks, and beverages to be donated throughout the week. Let's shower the Teachers and Staff with some goodies! See the sign ups below.
