Hey Franklin Family!

Calling all creative superstars- Teacher Appreciation Week is zooming in and we need your help to make our support staff feel SUPER appreciated! These amazing folks help make Franklin fantastic every single day. Let's shower them with door decorations that are brighter and bolder than a superhero's cape.

The slots for our support staff are:

  • Principal's Office: Ms. Chirrick
  • Room 4: Ms. West, Ms. Joan, Ms. Mirts, Ms. Manalili (Paraprofessionals and resource teachers
  • Main Office Door:  Ms. Lee and Ms. Erin (the office team)
  • Custodian Door (Basement): Mr. Tim (our wonderful custodian)
  • Media Center Door: Library Teacher: Ms. Kinsey
  • Room 12: Art Teacher: Ms. Olsson
  • PE Shed: PE coaches: Ms. Clifford, Coach D (Ms. Demarest) 
  • Intervention Lead: Door located right of the media center: Intervention Lead: Mx. Martha
  • AIK /MPR: Sandy, Satomi, Hunter, Ms. Shelly,  and Eliza

Tips & Tricks
This message contains some examples of past decorated doors.  Below are some tips & tricks:
  • Doors are 79”L x 34”W.  The door handles are approximately 35” from the bottom. Most handles are on the right side of the door but please check your door because some are on the left.
  • There are large rolls of paper in the hallway near the front entrance to the school by the multipurpose room that can be used for the background of your door decor - they are slightly wider than most of the doors. It is best to use a piece longer than the door so that you can wrap the paper over the top of the door.
  • The decorations don't have to be expensive or excessive, they can be as simple as markers and cut-out construction paper shapes! Please work on creating your door decorations at home, and have them (mostly) complete before installation day. Up to you if you want to involve students or not, but most kids love to decorate.
  • Clear packing tape, scissors, and a step stool are your decorating sidekicks. Ditch the duct tape. There will be a limited supply of tape available if you don’t have any. Please do not use duct tape.
  • Last year we found it worked best to wrap the paper over the top of the door and either tape it to the top edge, or the backside of the door - the tape sticks best to the metal frame running around the outside of the door, and only clear packing tape seemed to work. The material on the front of the door is resistant to any type of tape, so the paper needs to be long and wide enough to reach the edges of the door.
Hanging Your Decorations
  • Please hang your decorations either on Friday, May 3rd between 2:50pm and 5:30pm or Monday, May 6 (starting at 7:45am).
