As we welcome the month of February, we are excited to celebrate Lunar New Year and Black History Month! These occasions provide wonderful opportunities for our students to learn about diverse traditions, history, and contributions that shape our world.

There is no scheduled PTA meeting this month, our next PTA meeting will be in person on 3/18.
Celebrating Black History Month
Stay tuned for some upcoming activities to celebrate Black History Month! If you are interested in reading a book to the kids, helping with a lunchtime activity, putting up some posters relevant to Black History Month, please let our PTA know!
Also, AUSD Families are welcome to join the Office of Equity as they host School Yard Rap for this year's Black History Month Celebration Saturday February 8, 2025, 2pm-4pm at Lincoln Middle School. RSVP Here.
Heritage Night, This Saturday from 5:00–7:00pm
This Saturday is Franklin's Heritage Night Celebration! We’ll meet from 5:00 to 7:00 at the TTUM Gym at 2259 Central Ave. Join us for a joyful evening of celebrating the diverse cultures that make up the Franklin Elementary community! Save the Date: Spring Auction Fundraiser, Saturday 3/29, 6:00–10:00pm
Where: The Officer's Club, Alameda Point
The Auction Committee is looking for donations for the live auction portion of the event! Items that have been popular in the past:
- Hosting a happy hour, dinner, or other get-togethers such as an afternoon of crafting
- Vacation homes
- Tickets — sporting events, flights, Disneyland, Legoland, etc
- Tours of businesses such as Pixar, Google, Breweries, or Coffee Roasting Companies
- Experiences such as a boat ride on the bay
- Lessons in your area of expertise— cooking, baking, beer making, or birding!

AEF Enrichment Classes—Early Bird Pricing Ends 2/6
The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) is back with winter and spring enrichment classes! Take advantage of early bird pricing before it ends on February 6th. You can view all available classes by visiting https://alamedaeducationfoundation.org/after-school-program/. AEF's fun and unique classes fill up quickly, so be sure to register today.

Franklin's Go Green Team — New Volunteer Opportunity!♻️🌲
Are you interested in areas including: zero waste & reusuables, Green Schoolyards (more trees please!), gardens, climate in classrooms (remember that September heatwave?), and overall increased focus on climate & environmental literacy in curriculum? Our PTA is looking to start a Go Green Team at Franklin. Several other elementary schools in Alameda currently have active Go Green teams and we can connect you with them to help get a program up & running quickly at our school.
