Franklin PTA February Newsletter
Wed, Feb 4 2:09pm

Hello Falcon families,

February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the lasting contributions of Black leaders, artists, innovators, and change-makers who have shaped our communities and our country. We encourage families to learn, reflect, and honor these stories together.

There is no general PTA meeting in February. We look forward to seeing you for our next meeting on March 18!

Heritage Night, Saturday, February 7, 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Twin Tower UMC Gym (2259 Central Ave)

The PTA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee is proud to host the Franklin community for Heritage Night - a free, off-site event kids will love! Enjoy culture, community, and We Fly High lion dancers at 4:30 PM celebrating the Lunar New Year.

We urgently need sign-ups to bring a dish.

Spring Auction - Saturday, March 7, 7:00 - 10:00 pm, Almanac Brewery

Please join us for an adult-only underwater soiree! Enjoy dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions. Raise a glass, make a splash and support our school in style.

Early bird ticket price is available until February 23! Purchase your tickets here

For those who would like to attend the event, but find the price prohibitive, you can confidentially email hazelarcher@franklinpta.org for a free ticket code.

Pre-auction sip & donate (proceeds from drink purchases benefit Franklin) next door at Admiral Maltings 5:00 pm -7:00 pm.

Discounted childcare ($35) will be available at The Village Kids Club. Parents may drop off children starting at 5:30 PM and pick up by 10:30 PM for a fun, fully supervised evening with a seashell, ocean-inspired craft, a dance party + ice cream social and a kid-friendly movie. A kid-friendly dinner is included. Spots are limited, so advance registration is encouraged.

We need your help to make this event a success!

The PTA Needs Your Help!

The PTA Needs your help to fill our open board positions for the 2026-2027 school year. If you are interested in joining our super fun PTA executive board, and making a huge impact at Franklin school, please contact the nominating committee:

Your PTA Donations At Work in January!

The Franklin PTA is funded by families like you. Through your generous contributions, the PTA funds critical programs and staff.

During the January PTA meeting, members had the opportunity to hear from our science and art teachers about the exciting and educational work our students have been doing this year thanks to the PTA’s staff and supply funding.

In science, students had the opportunity to explore and collaborate with uninterrupted science time that included 1st graders learning about sound, 4th graders learning about magnets and 5th graders learning about erosion.

In art, our students focused on experimentation, critical thinking and investigative reflection at all levels, including a special learning on artist Lexy Ho-Tai that inspired student conversations on social justice and activation.

Social-Emotional Learning Comfort Creatures inspired by Lexy Ho-Ta

The PTA also funds field trip buses! Without this critical funding, our kids would not be able to leave the island. In January, our second graders had hands-on farm experience at Slide Ranch, an agricultural and environmental education center in Marin County.

Got Any Bright Ideas? Questions?

Whether you’re a seasoned Franklin parent or are new to our community (welcome!) we want to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out to any PTA Exec Board member, or email ask@franklinpta.org.
