June is Pride Month, a time we recognize and celebrate the contributions of the LGBTQI+ Community. It is a time we look back with pride at how the LGBTQI+ Community has fought hard to make progress and we gather strength for the difficult battles for LGBTQI+ equality ahead. Franklin Elementary is proud of the contributions to our community from our LGBTQI+ students, teachers, staff and families.

✅ Kinder Buddies / Welcome Committee 👯♀️
Be a buddy to a new Franklin family! Remember all the questions you had your first year at Franklin: What’s expected of families? How do we secure after-school care? How much should I be volunteering? How do contact my kid's classmate's parents? Help incoming families with these and any other issues by becoming a family buddy to be paired with a new Franklin family. It’s the best way to build community and welcome new Falcon families. Oh my! the Lost & Found is overflowing again! Please take some time to see if any of items belong to your student, or someone you know! All items left at the end of the school year will be donated.

We loved seeing all the Science Fair projects on display, but it's time to take them home! 
End of the Year Field Day and Picnics at Franklin Park — This Week 🍕
Let's celebrate the completion of another year! Classroom volunteers will be needed for each grade to help supervise kids and organize games, crafts, and snacks. Pizza lunch will be provided by the PTA for students. Check with your room parent on details and volunteer signups for the class picnics. Here are the dates for each grade:
6/2, Monday: 1st grade
6/3, Tuesday: 4th grade
6/4, Wednesday: 2nd and 3rd grades
6/5, Thursday: Kindergarten
5th Grade Promotion 🎓 — Thursday! HELP NEEDED 🚨🚨🚨
If you do not have a student in 5th grade please see the signup sheet to see how you can help out. It is a tradition at Franklin that other grades volunteer on this day so that 5th grade families can relax and enjoy the day!
The vast majority of kids in the graduating class have been at Franklin for 6 years, and this week they officially flee the coop and go on to schools across Alameda and beyond. We wish them and their families luck and joy in this wild new chapter of their lives. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon.
Back to School Ice Cream Social 🍦
While summer is upon us, please save the date for Sunday, August 10, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. for our annual Back to School Ice Cream Social to kick off another amazing year. We are looking for parents to join the planning committee. Email Hospitality Chair jenniferdenton5@gmail.com to join.
AEF Coordinator
Our parent coordinator for AEF, Susan Tom, is looking for someone to shadow her next year in this role, so they can take it over for the 2026-27 school year. The AEF part coordinator makes it possible for us to have all of the wonderful enrichment classes offered after school!
We also have other leadership roles that are open for next year.

Whether helping as an Art Docent, serving on a committee, being a room parent, or organizing the many events and programs that improve the lives of our Falcons, we appreciate your time and effort.
