Hello Falcon Families!

We would love to have you join us for the first PTA meeting of the year on Wednesday, August 27th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Media Center (second floor). We will have free childcare, pizza, and soft serve ice cream for the kids in the Multipurpose Room.

You can view the agenda here, and the minutes from our last general meeting

The year's first meeting is always a good one. We'll cover:

  • How the PTA functions and supports our school
  • The budget for the school year
  • Ways you can help our school
  • An update from our principal, Ms. Chirrick
  • Review & approve the PTA calendar of events

PTA Membership Reminder: Membership does not auto-renew. Only people who have joined or renewed their dues in at least the last 30 days are eligible to vote at a PTA meeting. However, membership cards in California expire on October 31, allowing a grace period (from July 1 to October 31) for our members to renew their membership. Don't wait- Join or Renew today! email ask@franklinpta.org for financial assistance with membership dues. No questions will be asked.

See you then!

Reminder: To be a volunteer in AUSD, a LiveScan fingerprint check is necessary. In order to make this as easy as possible at Franklin, we have arranged for fingerprinting at the first PTA meetingHere is the link to sign up for a timeslot. If you have already done this, you do not have to do it again. The fingerprinting service will be available in the Multipurpose Room this Wednesday 5:30-7:30pm.

Fingerprinting for volunteering at school - During the first PTA meeting, a notary will be on site to fingerprint parents interested in volunteering at the school. Being fingerprinted will allow you to volunteer throughout your child’s tenure at AUSD. Besides chaperoning field trips, this can mean working with small groups without the presence of a teacher or staff member, working 1:1 with a student in the classroom and any other scenario where that parent would be the only adult in the area. If you are not fingerprinted you can still volunteer at school, in the classroom, and during school events but you cannot be in the situations mentioned above. Please see the attached information from the district regarding fingerprinting.

Our PTA programs, community events, and the classroom activities cannot be done without the generous support of parents like you. All types of volunteering, whether directly with the kids and school or behind the scenes, helps enrich our students' academic and social experience and is very appreciated!

Note that there is a cost associated with getting fingerprinted ($67), but the Franklin PTA offers scholarships, no questions asked. Please email ask@franklinpta.org with any questions. The fingerprinting process will take 5-10 min per person.
