Hello Franklin Families, wondering when your child will be heading to the park on Friday, October 4 for the Pop & Walk? You'll find the day's schedule at the end of this announcement!
First, a few important reminders & info:
- It may be very warm on Pop & Walk day. Please remind your students that the Pop & Walk is not a contest to see how many laps can be completed. Let's take it slow and have fun!
- Your child will receive their Walkathon T-shirt on Thursday, October 3. Please remind them to wear their shirt for the Pop & Walk the next day.
- Water will be provided. However, if you prefer that your child bring their own water, no problem! Your child should take their water bottle with them to the park and place it on their classroom's water table.
Here's the schedule:
Grades K-1:
- 8:35, arrive with their teachers
- 8:40, Franklin parent leads the kids in a fun warm-up/stretch
- 8:50-9:10, kids run/walk around the perimeter of Franklin Park
- 9:10-9:20, kids gather at their class water table and prepare to head back to class
Grades 2-3
- 9:30 arrive with their teachers
- 9:35-9:45, warm-up and stretching
- 9:45-10:15, Run/Walk
- 10:15-10:25, gather at their class water table and prepare to head back to class
Grades 4-5
- 10:40, arrive with their teachers
- 10:45-10:55, Warm-up and stretching
- 10:55-11:25, Run/Walk
- 11:25-11:35, Gather at the class water table and prepare to head back to class

Help set up water (4) and snack tables (2), shade canopies, and finish line; fill water jugs and bring from the school to the park.

Drop off shade canopies at Franklin Park by 8am on Walkathon Day; pick up after 11:45 (or when event ends). Arrangements to drop of/pick up at other times can be set up. Please label your canopy.

Prior to event, pick up classroom's cups OR arrange with teacher to have students bring their water bottles; if using the cups, wash and bring to event. At the event, 1-2 parents per class to manage that class's water table; label cups with student names; help pass out snacks to Kinder-1st grade classes.

One volunteer at each of the 3 corners on the route to direct kids as they run by, plus a floater. Route Guides also man the bubble machine and play music from portable speakers.
