🎸 Rock & Walk — Franklin’s 11th Annual Walkathon!

Friday, October 2

It’s almost time to Take It to 11! 🎸

The Walkathon is one of Franklin’s favorite traditions — and one of the PTA’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Students will walk laps around Franklin Park with their classmates, and families are encouraged to come cheer them on!

Want to help make it happen?

Our Walkathon Planning Committee could use more parent volunteers! Sign up through Konstella.

πŸ’š Why the Walkathon Matters

The Walkathon is more than a fun day at the park. It helps fund many of the programs and resources that make Franklin such a special place to learn.

This year's PTA budget includes:

  • $105,038 for Support Staff & Specialists

  • $32,200 for Teacher & Staff Supplies, Curriculum, and Technology

  • $20,000 for Field Trip Buses

  • $10,600 for Community Events

  • And so much more!

Our annual fundraising goal is at least $500 per student, while we've budgeted approximately $900 per student in PTA-supported spending this school year.

We know that $500 is not realistic for every family — and that's okay! Every contribution makes a difference, and we encourage families who are able to give more to consider doing so. Together, our community makes these programs possible.

If you'd like to learn more about the PTA budget and how decisions about spending are made, please join us at our next PTA meeting on September 16.

πŸ“š Franklin Book Fair

October 19–24, 2026

Mark your calendars and start saving your pennies! πŸͺ™πŸ“š

This year's Book Fair vendor is Literati, and the Book Fair will be at Franklin Elementary from October 19–24.

The Book Fair is Franklin's primary source of PTA funding for the Media Center. Last year, our Book Fair generated almost $11,289.48 in gross sales, resulting in more than $3,000 in credit that was used for new books, equipment, and supplies.

Aside from raising money, the Book Fair also ensures that every student gets to go home with a book! β€οΈπŸ“–

We can't wait for another great Book Fair. Look for more details in the October newsletter!

🌎 Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month

September 15 – October 15

September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, a time to celebrate and honor the diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of people with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

At Franklin, we recognize the richness this heritage brings to our community and the many ways it shapes our shared story.

Be sure to check out our DEI bulletin board to learn more and see how our Franklin community is celebrating throughout the month.

πŸ™‹‍♀️ How to Volunteer at Franklin

Volunteers are a huge part of what makes Franklin such a special community!

Not sure where to start? Head to the Committees section on Konstella and join a group that interests you.

We're especially looking for:

Vice President
We're looking for someone interested in learning more about PTA leadership and potentially becoming PTA President next year. It's a great way to get involved while learning the ropes alongside our current leadership team.

Keep an eye on Konstella for upcoming volunteer signups. We'll soon need help with:

🎸 Walkathon
πŸ“š Book Fair
πŸ‘» Spooktacular
…and more!
