When transferring money by PayPal to the PTA, please be sure you are selecting "Sending to a friend."
Under the Cover-19 circumstances, PayPal will be the PTA's primary method for collecting payments, so it is important to pay attention to these instructions to avoid unnecessary fees to the PTA. By default PayPal is set to "paying for an item or service," which is intended for businesses selling items and therefore incurs a fee for each transaction; This fee is proportional to the amount of money transferred, so this becomes particularly problematic for the large amount of money being transferred for teacher/staff gifts as the PTA will begin to accumulate large fees.
When you are in the final payment screen, please be sure it says "sending to a friend." If not, click on "Change" to switch to "sending to a friend". See screen shots below for more details. PayPal does remember your settings, so the next time you send money to the PTA, it should already be set to "sending to a friend."
