Art Masters - January 22, 23, 25 and 26 Recap

January art lesson focused on the art of

Edgar Degas (1834-1917) 
The drawing secrets of Degas are discovered through learning his techniques of perspective and composition.  Students learn about the grid method of drawing.


Thank you to all of the parents who came out to volunteer in the classrooms during the 1 hour lessons and huge thanks to our chairs, Katie Ryan and Bobbie Cunningham for preparing the art supplies and coordinating the classroom schedules.

PTA General Meeting  - January 23, 2018 - Recap

The Nominating Committee announced the new slate of board members for 2018-219 and  has  been posted in front of the school office. The elections will be conducted at the General Meeting on March 20th.

The PTA Nominating Committee has met and made its recommendations for the 2018-2019 Executive Board offices.
The slate of officers is:

We would like to get a big group of parents to attend this meeting to elect the new board for the 2018-2019 school year. Come out to support them! 



Box Top Collection Period - January 16 to 19 - Recap

Thank you to Lori Hall for chairing this fundraiser and thank you to all of the parents that showed up to help count Box Tops.


Next Box Top Collection Period is May 17 to June 1

Keep cutting out those Box Tops.

The top class at the end of the school year will get to have the class "Box Top Trophy" with their teacher's name printed on it.



Kids Run the OC 

Registration: CLOSED

Coach Training is scheduled for February 1st from 3pm-4pm

Mandatory Parent Meeting and Bib Pickup on May 3rd from 7-8 PM in the MPR 


Practice Dates: Thursday, 3pm-4pm 
February 8, 15, 22 March 1, 15, 22, 29 April 12, 19, 26

SAVE the RACE DATE: May 5, 2018

Children must come prepared with sport shoes, sport appropriate attire and bottled water. If there is inclement weather, parents are to call the Kids Factory Weather Hotline at 949-460-2735. If Kids Factory is cancelled for the day, so will Kids Run the OC Practice. Children must complete 1 hour of physical activity that week outside of school, record it on a Make-Up Form  and turn it in to their coach at the next practice.


Jog-A-Thon - March 23, 2018


  • March 5: Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser begins
  • March 10: Early Donation Collection Incentive
  • March 12: Pep Rally 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm in the Quad
  • March 16 to 30: Fundraiser Period

Packet to be sent home in early March. 


Variety Show In-Person Registrations

  • Registration #1 - March 13, Tuesday, 8:00 - 9:00 am, MPR
  • Registration #2 - March 13, Tuesday, 2:30 - 3:30 pm, Quad
  • Registration #3 - March 14, Wednesday, 7:00 - 8:00 pm, MPR


  • In person registration only
  • No late registrations will be accepted
  • Music must be turned in at time of registration
  • Music and act must be 2 minutes in length
  • Auditions: April 27, Friday, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in MPR
  • Rehearsal #1: May 11, Monday, 3:00 pm in MPR
  • Rehearsal #2: May 18, Friday, 3:00 pm in MPR
  • Variety Show: May 25, Friday, 6:00 pm at Los Alisos Intermediate

Thank you Shea Pitlik and Olivia Renella for chairing this wonderful Program. It is a wonderful event for our kids to showcase their talents.



Astronomy Night 

This will be Gate's 14th Annual Astronomy Night. It was well attended event where everyone learned a lot about science and the night sky.


  • Guided Tours of our night sky by: OC Astronomers
  • Planetarium coming all the way from California Science Center in Los Angeles
  • Rocket Launches headed by Fernando Martinez and crew
  • Movie Home

Gates PTA began using this communication tool for the 2017-2018 school year. It is intended to keep Gator families and staff up to date on PTA events. Paper flyers will continue to be sent home but many times they stay buried in our children’s backpacks. Please help spread the word to other parents.
