Please check our school’s website, www.Glenoakselementary.org for upcoming events, information, and the school.  On the website in the “Thursday Folder” there are flyers for upcoming events, afterschool programs, etc.  All school holidays, minimum days, no student days, etc. are all listed.  It is a great source of information

DI MUNDO’S ALL-CALLS: Mr. Di Mundo sends out an all-call message every Sunday evening with the upcoming week’s events. It is very informative and lets you know what happening……. If you are not receiving his calls, please call the office and let us know as soon as possible.

PLEASE BE COURTEOUS TO OUR GLENOAKS RESIDENTS:  While we understand the traffic conditions are not ideal, we all need to be mindful of the children, parents, and residents.  Please obey all traffic laws.  U-turns are illegal in the middle of the street, double parking, and parking in and/or blocking driveways should never happen.  Several residents have complained that their trash cans are being moved.  Please DO NOT move any trash cans in front of residents’ homes.  If you block a driveway or park in a driveway that is not yours, the police WILL be called.

Please also remember we have several students who take the bus to and from school.   There is no parking at any time in the yellow bus zone.  On several occasions over the last couple weeks the bus driver has had to stop the bus on Glenoaks and ask parents to move their cars.  Please observe the traffic signage so the children who take these buses do not need to wait unnecessarily and the bus drivers do not have to double park on Glenoaks, making it a very unsafe situation.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

6TH GRADE PARENTS:  Please provide a copy of your child’s updated immunization record to your child’s teacher or to the front office by September 15, 2017.  If your child has not received his/her Tdap vaccination, please schedule them to have the vaccination as soon as possible.  Please check your child’s immunization record to see if he/she has already received the vaccination.

Girls on the Run Fall 2017:  The Fall season starts the week of September 25th on Mondays and Wednesday from 3:00PM to 4:30PM. This 10 week program is available to all girls in 3rd - 6th grades and ends in a celebratory 5K run. Please go to https://gotrla.org/Register-Now to register. Fee for the program is $225 and financial assistance is available.  Please go to website at GOTRLA.ORG for more information about their exciting program.

Fall Carnival:  SAVE the DATE!!!   Friday, September 29th from 5:30pm-9:30pm we will be having our Fall Carnival put on by the Glenoaks Elementary School Foundation (GESF)

This is a fundraiser so please come have some fun and raise money for our school!

Wristbands will be $45 and it will get you unlimited rides on the Ferris wheel, ballistic swing ride, inflatable giant slide, 3 hard lane slides, and a trackless train.  We will also be having a dunk tank!!! Who wants to get Mr. Di Mundo wet??? For $5 you get 2 tries.

There will also be a glow booth, bake sale and cake walk. Snow cones and cotton candy will be for sale for $3.  Come hungry!! Tommy's Burgers, Dogtown Dogs, and Big Cheese food trucks will be there.

Donations are needed for the cake walk and bake sale. Please contact Sharis at sharisp@mac.com with any questions.

GUSD TRUANCY/TARDY POLICY Parent/guardian MUST verify any absence within THREE (3) days of student’s return to school.  You can verify an absence on Glenoakselementary.org or call the office. ABSENCES NOT VERIFIED WITHIN 3 DAYS OF STUDENT’S RETURN TO SCHOOL WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE RECORDED AS A TRUANT ABSENCE AND CAN NO LONGER BE VERIFIED/CLEARED. Also, there are far too many tardies.  Please try to be at school on time.

PARENT CONNECT ACCESS- IMPORTANT!! This is a new GUSD portal designed to give parents/guardians more access to their student’s educational information, i.e., schedule, grades, attendance, behavior, etc. If any personal information such as home phone numbers, cell phone numbers, emergency phone numbers, etc., need to be updated or changed, this is where you will do it.  You will no longer call the front office to make these changes.  It is extremely important that all contact information is current and correct. If you have moved, however, you will still have to notify the school office of this change.  It is very important that each family register on the portal as we are looking for 100% participation for Glenoaks. You will utilize this portal all throughout GUSD elementary, middle, and high schools.

DROP-OFF VALET SERVICE:  This week’s drop off valet service is being manned by Mrs. Barber’s 4th grade class.  Sign-up information can be found on Konstella under your child’s room. All you need to do is show up at 7:50, put on your stylish orange safety vest from the office, and stand at one of our drop-off locations. As cars pull up, you wave them forward and help students out of their cars. That's it! We need two people at the kindergarten gate, one with Ms. Maria at our main gate and two people in the back of the school at the lunch bench drop-off. At 8:15 - You're done! We would appreciate any support you can give - just one morning during your class's week would be great!

CLASSROOM SUPPLIES AND DONATIONS:  Please contact your child’s teacher to see what is on his/her wish list for any classroom supplies.  All donations are greatly appreciated.  Pencils, pencil sharpeners, hand sanitizer, wipes, Kleenex, glue sticks, scissors are some of the items always needed and welcome.  Teacher emails can be found on the Glenoakselementary.org website.
