Dear Families in the GASP Program,

We are cross-posting the below message from the GASP team that went out yesterday in case anyone enrolled in GASP did not receive it.

In Community,
Samantha S. Low + Kristin Ryker
Grattan PTA Co-Presidents 2025-2026

Dear GASP Families,

We wanted to provide an update regarding how and when GASP may be able to operate during the potential teacher strike. We also want to acknowledge that we understand how stressful and uncertain this may feel for families. We know that finding childcare can affect your livelihood, work schedules, and overall stability. Please know we are holding our community in mind as we navigate this situation.

If there is no school on Monday due to the strike, GASP will also be closed. We are only able to operate on the Grattan school site when the school is officially open.

If the strike extends beyond Monday, it is possible that the district may work to align after school programs with a Recreation and Parks site. At this time, this information is still tentative and is a process the city is still working through. There is currently no timeline for when this information will be provided to us.

Please know that our communication with the district is not more detailed than the communication families have already received. We are working closely with SFUSD and will share updates as soon as they become available.

If the strike is extended, we will continue exploring off-site program options. If we are able to secure an alternative location, it may result in a full-day program (up to a 9-hour program day). However, space may be limited, and we are still working with the district on how attendance and prioritization would be determined.

Please note: if an off-site option becomes available, ELOP students will be given first priority.

We understand this situation may create a tremendous hardship for families, and we want you to know that we are actively working to identify options that may support our community during this time.

Additionally, we have placed a QR code at the pick-up gate with food resources and community support information. If you feel your family may be impacted and would like support accessing food resources, please connect with our checkout specialist, a GASP teacher, or a GASP administrator. We have also attached the QR codes below for families to access directly.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this developing situation. We will continue to communicate updates as we learn more.

Sincerely,
GASP Administration Team
