Weekly Letter From Ms. Walter
Fri, Apr 17 4:00pm

Dear Families,

Congratulations!  We’ve made it through our first week of distance learning!  I know there were a lot of ups and downs. Tech challenges seem to be the biggest hurdle.  Please continue to reach out to Philip (marcocciop@sfusd.edu) during his daily 10AM-11AM office hours for support.  We are really trying to move tech support off of teachers so they can focus time and energy on connecting with students and instruction.  You can also click here for tech resources posted on the SFUSD website.  Based on my experience and that of teachers, just seeing kiddos and connecting with them has been a high.  For us educators, whose whole existence and purpose is so wrapped up in supporting children first hand, this has been a tough transition.  However, seeing those cute little faces on the screen brings us joy!

As we launch into this new way of being together as a community, I ask that we are thoughtful about what we post and share on-line.  Please know the communication coming from teachers is created with the intent that classroom families are the audience. Please do not post schedules and notes on line without checking in with your child’s teacher first.

I’m excited to announce we will be having our annual FUN RUN Friday May 1st.  This has become such a tradition at Grattan and we can’t imagine a year going by without it.  The PTA will be sharing details next week via Konstella that we will also post to our website.  Although this will not be a fundraiser for the school we will be encouraging families who can to think about donating to our local Cole Valley merchants who have been so supportive of our community over the years.  We will have lists and links available to support your favorites!

Please look for your teacher’s weekly communication in the coming days to help you get organized.  Assignments with suggested times and synchronous learning times will be listed so you can plan accordingly.

Please remember to continue to reach out as needed.  We are all here for you!

In Community,

Ms. Walter
