“Walk n’ Roll San José!” DUE

The City of San José is sponsoring a poster contest for schools participating in San José’s Walk n’ Roll Program. Students at all grade levels are encouraged to submit their creative, original artwork on the environmental and/or health benefits of walking and bicycling to school. Banners can be created by an individual student, small group or classroom.    The winning entries’ work at each school will be enlarged into a 4ft x 8ft vinyl banner for the school to display on campus to encourage walking and bicycling to school.   Entry Requirements & Restrictions • Submissions must be on a horizontal layout (8.5x11 paper is fine). • The slogan “Walk n’ Roll San José!” must be prominently drawn on the poster • All artwork must be original (except school mascot if used) • The grade level, school, teacher, and artist name must be included on the back of the poster • Artwork theme should illustrate one or more of the topics below: o Walking and/or bicycling is good for your health  o Walking and/or bicycling is good for the environment o Walking and/or bicycling is fun • Creative slogans related to the theme are encouraged • The City of San José reserves the right to use, reprint and share artwork submitted under this contest and to modify contest rules if deemed necessary. • Entries that fail to comply with the poster contest rules will be disqualified  How to submit a banner Submit your artwork to your school office. If you have a digital submission, you can email it to: walknroll@sanjoseca.gov. We cannot wait to see all the artwork you create!  Judging and Poster Selection Schools will review the entries and rank their top two finalists. There will be 2 winners for each school (Grades K-3 will have one winner and Grades 4-5/6 will have one winner). Selection should be based on quality, originality and how well the banner illustrates one or more of the themes (health, environment, and fun). The City will work with the school to determine which banners will be selected to represent the school’s “Walk n’ Roll” Program.  Photo Rights of Ownership All received entries will become the property of the San José Walk n’ Roll Program and may be used in future promotional materials.  Deadline Entries must be received by November 30th, 2022
