Picnic tables by the cafeteria

Robotics at Hacienda has been a beloved tradition for our third through fifth graders, but this entirely parent volunteer-led extracurricular program was put on hold due to the pandemic. We kicked off a mini robotics season in the spring, and now we are ready to open the program up to more families!
Visit https://bit.ly/HRsurvey22 to fill out the signup survey by Tuesday, September 13, and if you missed the info meeting, please visit https://haciendarobotics.wordpress.com to review the information before submitting your survey.
Third through fifth grade families, please join us at 3pm on Thursday, September 8 in the cafeteria to see some of our students' robotics creations in action. We will hold an informational meeting immediately after the demos.
We will hold a second informational meeting that same evening at 7pm via Zoom for anyone who was unable to attend the after school meeting. There is no need to attend both meetings.

We can only create robotics teams if we have parent volunteers to run them, and no robotics experience is required. Teams are usually made up of two parent volunteer coaches and 6-8 students, typically in the same grade. It's up to each team to decide when and where to meet, but usually it's either after school or a weekend afternoon, once a week for 1-2 hours.
The signup survey is at https://bit.ly/HRsurvey22 and must be submitted by Tuesday, September 13. Students will be placed on a team by lottery, with a wait list created if we do not have enough spots for all students. Our priority is 4th and 5th grade students, and we will create teams of 3rd graders if we have equipment and coaches.
Newly created teams this year will not be competing in the FIRST Lego League competitions, but may attend and observe the competitions this fall to learn more about them and hopefully compete next school year.
If you have any questions, please email the Robotics lead, Shannon Nascimento, at haciendarobotics@gmail.com.
