The school will be conducting an all-school emergency drill Wednesday, September 21st, at 10am. San Jose Unified School District is taking steps to ensure student safety in the event of a stranger on campus or an active shooter in the area. These drills are mandatory for all schools and should reassure you that our students will be informed about and will practice how to respond in an emergency situation. Our teachers and staff are sensitive to the age of our students and have planned communication to students accordingly. The safety of students and staff is our top priority, and drills like this one help to prepare us in the event of an actual emergency. We will announce the drill and students will not be allowed to leave their classrooms or the school until the drill has concluded. Please make sure that you will not have to pick up or drop off your student between 10:00am and 10:30am on this day as we will not be able to disrupt this emergency drill. During the drill, teachers will lock and barricade classroom doors. The office will also be locked, and staff will not be able to answer the phones during this drill. Please let us know if you have any questions. School is a safe place for students, and we want them to be assured of that.
