If you're looking for a way to help send smiles to our troops overseas with your extra Halloween candy, one of our first grade families is volunteering with Operation: Care and Comfort to collect candy for their Military Care Package Program. Bring your extra candy on Thursday, November 1 or Friday, November 2 to drop off in the marked bin outside the office.

Operation: Care and Comfort Military Care Package Program exists to provide support and comfort to "adopted" units of deployed U.S. military service members, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and conflict regions, by sending care packages containing needed items. Working within our community and through donations received from all over our country, we assemble and mail care packages to these adopted units until they return home. We are currently supporting dozens of units and ships on a monthly basis. We hold large public care package events at least quarterly, with small packing events in between. Over a million pounds of care packages have been packed and mailed by OCC!
On Sunday, November 4 from 10am-1pm, OCC will be hosting their large care package sorting event at Avaya Stadium. Join us as we sort and pack donations into care package boxes, and label them for shipment. Ages 5 and up are welcome to volunteer, but all kids under 16 must be supervised.
