Measure R: Neighborhood School Safety and Improvement Bond of 2024
To complete identified repairs and improvements across all school sites, the San José Unified
Board of Education voted to place Measure R on the November 2024 ballot for local voters to
consider. Measure R is a bond measure that would authorize the issuance of $1.15 billion in
bonds for facility improvements. The tax rate for Measure R would be limited to $60 per each
$100,000 of a property’s assessed (not market) value. If approved by voters, funds from

Measure R could be used to:
• Replace and update campus safety systems
• Update classroom technology and infrastructure
• Repair old electrical systems
• Upgrade classrooms and labs for science, technology, engineering, math, career
technical education, and multipurpose use
• Provide affordable housing to attract and retain teachers and staff members

Now that the Board of Education has placed Measure R on the November ballot, it is important
for District employees to observe important rules related to interactions with the public about
the measure or involvement in any political campaign.

This Measure will help make major necessary improvements to our Galammer School Site.
