Dress Like a Friend Day – Friday, October 27th!

Get ready for some matching fun on Friday, October 27th! Students are invited to participate in Dress Like a Friend Day by coordinating outfits with a buddy. Whether it’s identical shirts, matching hats, or playful accessories, it’s a great chance to show off friendship and creativity! Let’s see how many twin looks we can spot around campus!

Annual School Picture Day Friday November 22nd – Say Cheese!

Smile, it’s Picture Day! Our Annual School Picture Day is coming up, and we’re excited to capture those bright smiles for the yearbook. Please remember that students should wear their school uniform collared shirts or dresses in one of the three approved colors: navy, white, or powder blue. These pictures will be used in the school yearbook, so let’s make sure everyone looks sharp!

Halloween Fun at Hammer Montessori – Costumes, Parade, and Snakes!

Halloween is right around the corner, and we have some spooky fun planned! Students are invited to dress up as their favorite book character and join in the morning parade. Costumes are encouraged to be creative, literary-themed, and fun for all! But that’s not all—we have something extra thrilling this year!

HMF has arranged for a special assembly featuring snakes! Students will have the chance to learn all about these fascinating reptiles in a fun and safe environment. Permission slips should have already been sent home and signed, as this event was rescheduled. If you haven’t turned it in yet, please do so ASAP!

Exciting News – Parent Volunteer Opportunity at the Library!

Calling all parents! Our fantastic Galammer librarian, Mrs. Lee, is looking for SJUSD-approved parent volunteers to assist with some library tasks, including:

~ Reshelving books
~ Labeling books
~ Cutting bookmarks
~ Copying coloring pages

The volunteer time is before school, starting at 8:45 am and finishing by 9:30 am. Since the number of books to reshelve changes day by day, depending on book returns and class visits, there may be light tasks available. If there are no books to shelve, please check the volunteer work bins located behind Mrs. Lee’s desk, or simply ask her for guidance.

Trunk or Treat

Join us for a spooky fun afternoon at the Hammer Montessori Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Hammer Faculty/Staff parking lot. This family-friendly event is free for Hammer Montessori students and their families and will be filled with Halloween-themed activities and treats. Get creative and decorate your car trunk or a table to hand out treats as your kids collect candy from decorated stations throughout the lot. Raffle baskets with kid-friendly goodies, a pumpkin patch for perfect fall photos, and family games will round out this festive event!

Want to get involved? You can display your Halloween spirit by signing up to decorate your car trunk or a table. Additionally, we’ll have a variety of fun games and a pumpkin patch to enhance the event. Stay tuned for sign-up sheets for Trunk or Treat, Table Treat, and raffle basket contributions, which will be available in the next couple of weeks. Don’t forget to check out the Konstella app to join the Trunk or Treat Committee and help plan this fang-tastic event!

Mark your calendar, grab your costumes, and come ready to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with our community. Whether you’re decorating, donating, or just there for the treats, this is sure to be a Halloween event you won’t want to miss!

Hammer Logo Clothing Sales Pre-Orders – Last Day To Order!!

By popular demand we are going to do a run of tie-dye Hammer shirts.  You need to pre-order them at the link below.  We will not be ordering extras so if you want one make sure to get your pre-order in.

Feel that morning chill?  It’s almost time to break out those California winter clothes!

Due to last year’s successful pre-order sales and popular demand, we’re offering two HMS apparel designs in hoodies and pullovers, as well as a new long-sleeve "classic" shirt for pre-order this year.

Please note that these items are pre-order only—they are not in stock and will not be delivered immediately. Orders will be placed after the pre-order window closes on Friday, 9/27, with expected delivery to classrooms in mid-October.

Volunteering

We need your help! If you’re thinking about volunteering, now is the time to start. Your TB test is valid for 5 years, so it will cover you until your youngest moves to middle school. Get your TB test or risk assessment done ASAP, so you can submit it and begin the fingerprinting process.

To become a parent volunteer for HMS or school-related events, click HERE to start the process through SJUSD. I’ve done it myself, and it’s a straightforward process that will allow you to be more engaged with the school.

Corporate Matching Program Update

We wanted to inform you about a delay in our corporate matching program due to paperwork issues from 2020/2021. Government office closures and volunteer turnover led to unprocessed submissions, which have since been resolved, though final approvals are still in progress.

While our annual appeal will launch in October, we won’t be able to accept corporate matches until November. We’ll keep you updated on when matching is available again. Thank you for your patience and continued support!
