Light The Night
Tue, Feb 1 12:41pm

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Our school is participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Light The Night campaign, a service-learning program that helps raise critical funds for blood cancer patients like Cayden (above). Did you know that leukemia is the #1 most diagnosed form of childhood cancer? LLS is the world’s largest nonprofit fighting blood cancer and is working to change this statistic through its Children’s Initiative, which seeks to accelerate treatments with fewer harmful side effects, so that young cancer patients like Cayden not only survive but thrive for generations to come.

By participating in Light The Night, classrooms in our school are forming teams to raise money for LLS through group activities and individual efforts. Students are encouraged to register for our school team at the link below. Students who register online will receive a personal fundraising page to easily ask their family and friends to support their efforts to raise money for LLS.  We also encourage you to link your fundraising page to your Facebook. On average, people who link to Facebook raise $130!

While we raise money to fight blood cancers, we will also be learning.  Now more than ever, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is critical to promoting a healthy foundation for life. Through Light The Night, students learn prosocial skills like kindness, sharing and empathy. These skills come to life when students activate their fundraising efforts and through specific SEL curriculum available to our school from LLS.

We invite you to join our school as we fundraise to help end blood cancers. The top earning classrooms will get to PIE MRS. HUETHER and earn a POPSICLE PARTY WITH EXTRA RECESS.

FUNDRAISING DATES: Monday, February 7th – Friday, February 18th
