Green tip: Wait! Compost that!

Sometimes we assume things go in the BLACK landfill bin, or BLUE recycle bin, when they need to go in the GREEN compost bin and make new soil. But wait! See where it might go first.

Here are some surprising compostables:

- your coffee cup: check the lid - if it's also compostable, you can compost the whole thing, including wooden stir sticks.

- wine corks

- coffee grounds

- paper ear buds (qtips - without plastic sticks)

- tea leaves (paper tags and strings are okay)

- peels

- stained paper boats

- napkins and tissues

- hair and animal fur

- milk or juice cartons
