Walk & Roll Safety Tips: When you’re running late
Consider the safety of all school commuters, even when you’re running late and you’re trying to get your child to school on time.  Safety takes priority over punctuality.  Making illegal and unpredictable maneuvers or stops jeopardizes many others around you.  Take the extra minute to make a safer choice for everyone. If you’re running late, you probably need to improve your planning to allow more time and not take it out on others.  Give yourself a break and adjust for next time.

Go Hedgies!!!!!

2024 Annual CAC Sweetheart Awards - Call for Nominations
Submission due by Sunday, February 25th. Here is the Nomination form . Is there a bus driver, crossing guard, friend, teacher, aide, coach, therapist, fellow student, volunteer, relative, or community member that made a difference (however large or small) for your special needs child with an IEP or 504 or are you a student with an IEP or 504 that would like to nominate someone that has been a sweetheart? Honor that person by nominating them for a CAC Sweetheart Award. You can nominate anyone and you can nominate up to a maximum of three people or organizations. The only requirement is that you must write a paragraph (it can be short) about each person explaining why the nominee deserves a CAC Sweetheart Award. For more information about the Awards e-mail: sweethearts.award@gmail.com. The CAC Sweetheart Awards Ceremony, will be held on Tuesday, March 5th, from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Addison Elementary School MP room at 650 Addison Avenue, Palo Alto. Co-sponsored by Palo Alto Council of PTAs and Palo Alto CAC for Special Ed.

Green tip: Celebrate Love, Conserve!
Show your love sustainably. For Valentine’s Day and other celebrations and holidays this month, giving experiences can be just as valuable, if not more, than stuff. Or, opt for Fair Trade chocolates, pesticide-free flowers, and conflict-free diamonds. Share some unwrapped baked goods, regift something someone would love, or craft homemade, recycled Valentines (you can use old artwork). Afterward, remember that in addition to food, wet or soiled paper (without paint or plastic) can go in the compost. That goes for those tissues, napkins, cups and plates, too. Share love for the planet!
