Good morning and happy summer!
If you also woke up today to the unsettling reality of your kid already staring at a screen (please see attached photo of my actual child in the actual position I found him—EEK!), and you're looking for some fun literacy and reading activities, I’ve got you covered.
Below are our Hoover Summer Reading Slideshows—designed to keep students engaged in joyful literacy activities all summer long.
There are three separate slideshows:
-
One for Kindergarten–2nd grade
-
One for 3rd–5th grade
-
And one just for our rising middle schoolers
We already know Hoover kids are voracious readers, so I don’t need to bribe or beg. But if your reader needs a little extra motivation, the slideshows include:
-
Tons of fun learning and literacy activities
-
Great book recommendations across levels and genres
-
Links to local summer reading programs offering free books and prizes
You and your students can also find the slideshows all summer long via the Hoover Library homepage: https://hoo.opals.pausd.org/
Also attached to this email: our Hoover Library Annual Report — a quick look at the amazing things your kids did in the library this year! I hope you enjoy seeing just how much learning, reading, and fun we packed in.
Wishing you a summer full of rest, fun, and great stories.
With gratitude,
Cathy Harkness LeMat, MA
