The 42nd Annual Hillcrest Benefit & Auction - What To Expect

Hey Hillcrest, are you ready to play?! We realize many of you have not attended this event in person, or ever, so here is what you can expect:

Costumes: Guests are welcome to embrace and interpret this year’s theme - Toy Shop - in whatever way feels fun. Although it isn’t mandatory, our community really gets into dressing to theme. A character from your favorite game, a parody of a toy, group costumes, silly, serious, fun… it’s all welcome and encouraged! It’s time for the grown-ups to play, but please keep it rated “E” for everyone, as there will be 8th grade volunteers at the event.

Silent Auction: The evening will begin outdoors in a tented area in front of the Claremont (weather permitting). Passed appetizers and champagne will be provided, along with a cash bar. Parties for kids and adults, and a selection of other coveted auction items will be available for silent bidding, while grown ups in costume mingle and have fun! Of course this year we have some fun and games in store–so get ready to play!

Indoor Live Auction & Seated Dinner: After the silent auction closes, everyone will head inside the Claremont for the seated dinner and live auction. When purchasing your ticket, please be sure to note seating requests (either specific individuals or grade). Dinner and wine will be served before the live auction begins. Bidder-only ticket holders may depart when we move indoors, or attend the live auction (standing room only, dinner not included). The generosity of our community truly shines at this event - get ready to “raise your paddles” and have a lot of fun!

What about COVID? We strongly encourage attendees to take an at-home COVID test on the day of the event, within 12 hours of the start time. Let’s all do our best to keep our kids and community safe!

Can’t make it? There will be many auction items, class art projects, and more available through the online auction (Oct. 30th at 9am - Nov. 3rd at 9 pm). The online portion ensures that all who would like to participate are able to, in a way that feels doable for their family, with auction items at every price point.

Can I get a heads up? The Hillcrest Auction & Benefit Catalog will go home the week before the online auction begins (one per household). It will be full of descriptions for each of the items available for bidding, both online and in person. It will also detail bidding instructions and provide a party calendar for planning purposes. Be sure not to miss it when it comes home in a backpack!
