Dear Hillcrest Community:
On behalf of Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) it is with great pleasure that we introduce ourselves to the Hillcrest community as your Expanded Learning Program (ELP) provider for the 2022-23 school year. BACR is a regional nonprofit agency and our mission over the last 40 years has been to promote the healthy development of youth and families, encourage service and volunteerism, and build strong, collaborative and equitable communities. We have been providing academic support, enrichment, and physical activity based programming across the Bay Area since our inception and in Oakland since 2004. We are currently Oaklands largest after school provider. Our ELP mission statement is to “Empower Youth to Excel, Lead and Succeed”. To those ends, we promote young people’s holistic development by providing opportunities for them to acquire new skills, engage in creative learning, help plan and implement activities, and make meaningful contributions within their communities.
We would love for you to take a moment to check out our Facebook www.facebook.com/bacrdotorg/ and Instagram @bacr_expandedlearning to see some of the exciting adventures that happen in our programs. We understand this news has come late in the school year and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition. We have a lot to learn from one another over this time and anticipate many questions and a few bumps in the road. Please know we will do our best to make this time easy and tangible for all. If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us while we work to secure your permanent BACR program coordinator.
