"Share Your Voice: How Should Our Schools Come Back from COVID-19?

There are so many choices ahead for our district about how to safely open schools and serve students and families.

Oakland parents, like you, deserve a seat at the table as major decisions are being made about your child’s education. That’s why OUSD has partnered with GO Public Schools Oakland, our LCAP PSAC Committees, the NAACP, Bay Area PLAN, Latino Education Network, IKUNA, AAYSP, Banteay Srai, and more, to launch this #SchoolAfterCOVID family survey.

You can take the survey here:

Oakland 4th grader Aaliyah talks about the importance of the survey

This 15-minute survey is an opportunity for families to share feedback on how they have experienced the school closures and distance learning and to inform decisions about next year like calendars, schedules, budget priorities, assessment, and new ways of teaching and learning.

We ask that all families fill out this survey and share it with your friends who are caring for school-aged children. We want to ensure that these decisions expand opportunity and help tackle equity gaps that have denied low-income students and students of color the opportunities they deserve.

We recognize that this is an overwhelming time for many Oaklanders and we appreciate hearing from you. As a thank you for participating in the #SchoolAfterCOVID survey, while supplies last, parents who respond will have the option of receiving a “family fun pack” from GO -- with supplies to help your family stay engaged and keep kids learning at home.

It is more critical than ever that the families who have been furthest from opportunity are leading the conversation and solutions. OUSD does not share family contact information with external organizations. You can opt to share your information voluntarily."
