Hospital Gowns

Please read this important message from Hillcrest parent Danielle Goyne:

Hello Hillcrest Community,

My neighbor (and alumni Hillcrest parent) works at Children’s Hospital of Oakland.  They, like many other health facilities across the country, are very short on personal protection equipment.  They are asking the community to help them meet this need. You have probably seen many donation drives and requests for face masks (also very important!). This is a separate ask. All health workers also wear gowns to protect them and their patients, and these are generally disposable gowns. They are critically short of these supplies, and have come up with a pattern and guidance (attached) so that we, their community, can support them. The idea is to make a gown that can be reusable, and would be washed by the hospital along with all of the patient gowns.  This is where we can help. If you sew, and preferably have a sewing machine, then the attached directions are easy enough and require mainly supplies you already have in your home.

Here’s the direct link to the gown pattern (the company is donating the patterns so when you checkout it is free)  (but do read the attached from CHO as well):  https://www.peekaboopatternshop.com/isolation-gown/

I know we are all looking for ways to do our part in this crisis, and this is our chance.  Please do what you can. If you can’t get these to the hospital, just drop them off at my house (39 Agnes Street) and I can make sure they get delivered.

Also, if you can’t sew, but have old/extra bedsheets, you can drop those off with me too, and I can use them or give them to others who are able to use them for the gowns.

And by all means, please pass this along to others outside of the Hillcrest community, as the more people helping meet this need, the better.

Thanks so much - happy sewing!
